Brussels -- The European Commission has
refused to give
Microsoft more time to respond to charges that the software giant
has failed to comply with an EU antitrust ruling. Microsoft now has
until Feb. 15 to address the Commission's assessment that the
company has failed to provide its rivals with sufficient protocol
information to improve interoperability with Windows-run servers.
The Commission also rejected Microsoft's request for access to
correspondence involving technical experts. Microsoft claims it
needs the documents for its defence; the Commission says they
are confidential.
