Jerusalem -- Lightspeed Venture Partners, a
U.S.-based seed and
early stage venture-capital firm, announced that it has teamed up
with Israeli counterpart Gemini Israel Funds to create a jointly
led
"Lightspeed-Gemini Internet Lab". The two funds said they planned
to support seven to 10 emerging, Israel-based Internet companies
with initial investments of as much as €824,000 ($1 million) each.
Investments will focus on technologies related to the Internet and
Web 2.0. Lightspeed partner Jake Seid said his firm has been
investing in Israel for 10 years and is "excited to expand our
activity" in the country.
