U.K. Patent Offices Launches Consultation

London -- The U.K. Patent Office has launched a public
consultation on the workings of the current U.K. patent system.
Officials want to know whether the "inventive step" that is currently
required to make an invention patentable works in the best way for
U.K. innovators and the economy. The Patent Office also wants
respondents to assess how well the current legislation maximises
innovation and competitiveness and consider whether trivial
patents are being granted. The deadline for submitting views on
the current system is May 31.
